About Me

I am 17 and attend South Columbus High. I'm an avid actor and wish one day to not only act, but to also teach students to act. Theatre has made me who I am today and has helped me to become more outgoing and take leadership in my life. This is what I want for my future students.

Paulette Bonafonte: Who She Is

Song: Ireland
This song and scene shows Paulette's backstory. She is very broken, and this leads her to be very caring to other people. You can tell by what she sings that she is unhappy with how her life turned out and doesn't want the same thing for Elle.

Song: Bend and Snap
During this number, you see Paulette catering to Elle making sure that she is ready for her big case. She expresses some of her insecurities during this time, but after she finds out that she can bend and snap, she gains quite a bit of confidence and tries to win her man... It doesn't work out well for him.

Basically, Paulette cares more for other people but eventually learns to love herself. She ends up with her dream Irish gentleman with new friends.

Paulette's Style
I'm not sure how someone would go about explaining Ms. Bonafonte's style. You could say she is stuck in the 1960s hippie age.

Now compare it to the actual style of the 1960s...

Meanings of my POL Poems

To My Dear and Loving Husband:
The author of this poem is expressing her love for her husband. She is saying that his love is worth more than some of the most expensive things in the world. She wants their love to last for an eternity and more, on earth and in the afterlife.

Ebb:
The author of this poem is talking about how her heart is broken from her significant other leaving her. She is comparing her heart to a hollow hole, or pool. She is saying that her heart is drying up from the pain that they caused her.

My Costume for La Befana (Christmas Concert)

La Befana is one of Italy's oldest and most celebrated legends. Each year on January 6, the children of Italy awaken in hopes that La Befana has made a visit to their house. This is the day that the three Wise Men arrived at the manger of the Christ child and is more celebrated in Italy than Christmas.

Each year, on the eve of the Epiphany, La Befana sets out looking for the baby Jesus. She stops at each child's house to leave treats in the stockings for those who were good and a lump of coal for those who were bad.

Production Ideas for A Thousand Cranes

- At 7:38, the hospital people, while saying "leukemia," they bring on a hospital coat and put it on Sadako after cornering her.

- While counting, to keep the beat and unison, there is a type of noise.

- In the scene when Sadako is sleeping, instead of the sleep-talking immediately happening, it seems as if Grandmother comes and tucks Sadako in. I think it makes a lot more sense.

Advanced Theatre/Assistant Teaching 2nd Two Week Summary

Advanced Theatre:
The week of September 8th to September 11th was spent blocking and testing on pages 10 to the middle of 15 in our play A Thousand Cranes. This past week of September 14th to September 18th was spent blocking and testing pages 15 to 19. Both of those weeks, the class focused on physicality, vocal development, and basically all other theatre requirements. Line memorization has been our biggest hardship. Inadequate line memorization leads to bad pacing with lines, which leads to awkward scenes because of confused physicality and so on. This is what we are trying to avoid.

Assistant Teaching:
Both last week of Sept. 8th-Sept. 11th and this week of Sept. 14th-Sept. 18th was working with the beginning students and their miming skills. The entirety of last week, Ms. Jones and I taught them front/side/ceiling wall mines. They incorporated those miming skills into a scene with no dialogue. Obviously they were not tested on voice but mostly physicality and ensemble. This week, we have incorporated combat mime into their scenes. The kids have had a bit of trouble with this. They can often end up punching/kicking in the profile position. This is where we introduced cheating-out. Their required combat mime actions were: punching in the face/stomach, and kneeing. Although they do enjoy combat mime is it difficult for them to fully grasp without doing it incorrectly. Lastly, even thought very little, we have tried to include pantomime in the scenes. Most silent scenes already had some type of pantomime included.

Past Two Weeks Summary (Adv. Theatre and Assistant Teaching)

Theatre Arts Advanced:
In the past two weeks we have chosen a play for Play Fest called "A Thousand Cranes." We also casted the roles. I have gotten the lead, my classmate Emilee the secondary lead. We have blocked and memorized pages 5-9 so far and are testing tomorrow. Also for preparation and some background to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, we had to write a two person scene.

Assistant Teaching:
In Beginning Theatre we have started with physicality exercises. First, we tested them from the Improv Scene book and played some games that focused on concentration and physicality. This week have started focusing on physicality as well as conflicts and resolutions. But instead of using their bodies, they are only using their hands, which focuses their minds on being more physical. Tomorrow we will be testing their hand scenes.
